21.10.19 Women U19: Swieqi United continue perfect start to season
Swieqi United maintained their unbeaten streak in the league so far, obtaining another clean sheet in the process, following a 7-0 victory against Hibernians, matching the score that their Senior counterparts did earlier this week.
Within the opening minutes of the match, Demi Gauci Maistre gave the Young Owls their first goal with an easy tap at the second post. Gauci Maistre then thought she had got her second goal of the match in the 15th minute, only for the referee to annul it accordingly.
Less than a minute later though, the girls celebrated as Amy Busuttil made no mistake, doubling the Orange's lead. Elena Sissons then scored Swieqi United’s third goal after a strong shot bounced off the goal keeper’s hands and went straight into the net. Before the first half was over, Hannah Khatib and Michaela Cachia also managed to bag a goal each for the Owls, making the score 5-0.
The second half opened up with a goal from Eunice Micallef, who smacked the ball straight into the net from inside the goalkeeper’s box. While the Orange took their foot off the gas thereafter, three minutes before the end of the match, the referee called for a penalty in the Owls’ favour, after a nasty tackle left Iulia Mifsud on the floor. Mifsud bagged a goal for the team, after placing the penalty into the back of he net with great ease and precision.
The girls will face Birkirkara next week, hoping to maintain their unbeaten streak.
