14.05.18 The Club would like to announce the appointment of Billy Mock as Club Technical Director.
The Club is looking at further strengthening its internal structures and Mock was the obvious choice to take on the role. In the past three years, Coach Mock has been helping the Club create its Club Philosophy and he will now be tasked with its implementation. As Technical Director, he will oversee the vetting of all coaches and players joining the Club; quality assure internal coaching practices; assess player development; and lead and coordinate coaching and player development activities.
Billy Mock described the appointment as a “dream come true”. Having had coaching experience at national and local level, “I joined Swieqi United 3 years ago for this specific reason – to finally be at a Club that will allow me to implement a Club philosophy that will resonate from U5 right up to Senior level, both in male and female squads. I believe that EVERYONE must be working together across all age groups with the same outcome in mind. I have already been working on this for the past 3 years and now it’s finally time to dedicate my full focus to the implementation of this Philosophy. I will now be coordinating with the Club Management to select my replacement as Senior Head Coach. I am looking forward to further successes at all levels at the Club!”
Club President Dr Justin Fenech believes that this appointment is the next natural step in the Club’s evolution. “Why Swieqi United? This is the question. The answer is our Club Philosophy and structure. We are finally in a situation to have a Technical Director that will help us establish and implement the philosophy that makes us unique. Coach Billy’s dedication and passion has been unquestionable in the past 3 years and when it comes to vision – he is very much in line with the Club’s wishes. Therefore, having him focusing on this area will help the Club further establish itself as revolutionary force within Maltese football”.
In his role as Technical Director, Coach Mock will be assisted by Andrea Vella, who is also the Club’s Academy Director.
