24.07.17 U15s travel to Lloret del Mar, Spain
Our U15 squad travelled to Lloret del Mar, Spain from Friday 30th June to Friday 7th July for the 31st Mediterraneo Tournament.
Upon their arrival in the early hours of Saturday morning, the boys had the morning off and played games in the Games Room before breakfast and after lunch, had the opportunity to roam the shores and city centre. The Nou Camp and the Acquarium packed the entertaining excursion to Barcelona on the Sunday.
After breakfast on Monday, the boys attended the opening ceremony and enjoyed some time at the beach before preparing for their first game against AAS Sarcelles. The french side proved to be physically strong and after a balanced 15 minutes, scored three goals in 8 minutes to kill the game just before half time. The boys went out focused and better organised and performed much better, narrowly missing out on pulling a goal back, until in the dying moments of the game, the french side punished our young Owls from a quick counter attack.
On the Tuesday, our boys faced Spanish side Juventus, and in a pretty balanced first half, were unlucky not to take the lead just before the break. Despite producing a very good second half, the Spanish team scored three goals which eliminated the boys from the competition. The following day, against C.D. Inter Vilta Alegre, the boys once again produced a very good performance and despite holding on for most of the game, conceded three late goals. During their free time the boys enjoyed time by the pool at the hotel or the beaches at their disposal.
On their free day on Thursday, the group went to Acqua Land and spent the full day there going on all the rides possible. The boys also had time in the centre, went on walks, watched the Confederations Cup, went to bumping cars in the centre and m
On the final day, the boys had the last opportunity to buy some gifts for home and enjoyed the last swim at the beach and headed back to the island.
Overall, the tournament was well organised and special mention must go to Mark and Alex Pace who made this trip possible, together with Team Manager Mark Zammit for his exceptional work throughout the preparation period.
Swieqi United look forward to having more foreign experiences for our young owls in the coming months.
