Super Swieqi confirm their Second Division status

18.04.16 Super Swieqi confirm their Second Division status

Swieqi United maintained their Second Division status in awesome fashion, comprehensively beating Kirkop United 2-0 at the Luxol stadium.

Buoyed on by a great home crowd (and consequently packed stand!) and a fired up coaching staff, Swieqi went out all guns blazing and were the much better team over the course of the 90 minutes.

Patrick Briscoe White opened the score on 38 minutes when his thunderous first timed shot from outside the box left the Kirkop keeper with no chance. On 55' minutes, Swieqi then doubled the score. Kenneth Ekezie dazzled through the defence but whilst his shot was saved by the keeper, Mark Martin latched onto the rebound to stroke the ball into the corner of the net. It was Martin's first goal in Second Division and his first goal for the Seniors squad.

The Blues then controlled the game with Kirkop rarely threatening thanks to Jon Briscoe White and Kristian Sultana - who were awesome at the back. In the end, Swieqi held on to record a famous 2-0 win and ensure they remain where they belong for the 2016-17 season!
