Swieqi gain crucial point!

10.04.16 Swieqi gain crucial point!

Swieqi United gained a crucial point in their bid to survive in second division when they drew 0-0 with Siggiewi. Throughout the course of the proceedings, Swieqi were clearly the better team, dominating possession and creating most of the chances.

In the first half alone, the best chance of the half fell to Bruno Menezes who came one on one against the keeper but could not finish accordingly. Jon Briscoe White then also went close but his lob was way too high.

The second half was more or less the same with Swieqi United always on the attack. Kenneth Ekezie went agonisingly close on three occasions and Siggiewi then had a man sent off for preventing a clear goal scoring opportunity. With Mark Martin and Nicky Schembri also causing havoc down the wings, Siggiewi were always penned back into their half but threatened on occasions too.

In the dying minutes, Siggiewi had a free kick on the edge of the box but the powerful shot just shaded the post much to the relief of the Swieqi clan. The Orange next face Kirkop at Luxol Stadium (Sunday 6.15pm). A win for the Orange would guarantee survival in this division!
