Official Club Statement re alleged bribery attempts

08.02.15 Official Club Statement re alleged bribery attempts

Swieqi United FC would like to inform the press and the general public that it has immediately and without delay reported the incidents related to yesterday's match vs Zejtun to the MFA's integrity officer, Mr Tabone, who in turn will be handing over the information to the Police.

Swieqi United FC would like to make it clear that at no time did any player or club official allege that Zejtun Corinthians FC was involved in the incidents reported. We have always made it clear that the influence came from unidentified sources. It is in the best interest of all those who love football that these incidents are tackled head on and therefore all clubs should stand united.

Swieqi United FC stands by its players and we take the opportunity to thank them for the commitment, loyalty and positive attitude. The Club has pledged its full support to the fight against match fixing and fully backs the MFA in this regard.

Dr Justin Fenech
Swieqi United FC President
o.b.o The SUFC Executive Committee
