15.01.18 Seniors: Last gasp goal ensures Swieqi retain top spot
Up against a plucky Luqa St. Andrew's side in the team's latest game in the BOV Second Division, it took another last minute Kyle Muscat goal to ensure Swieqi left the Luxol stadium with all threepoints.
In the same manner in which they won their last game (2-1 v Fgura), a young Swieqi side had to dig deep and muster all the mental strength they had to claim a priceless three points.
A game which should have been won by the Owls in regulation time burst into life in the game's dying embers, when substitute Mark Martin cut in from the right to deliver an inch perfect pass in the box. The immense Kyle Muscat scored from close range to send the Swieqi bench into raptures and condemn ten man Luqa to defeat.
Despite the Blues missing several chances throughout the 90 minutes, this result showed that the “kids” have what it takes to deliver when needed. A monumental and important result for Billy Mock’s young and plucky professionals, which takes them back to the top of the tree, ahead of Santa Lucia, Siggiewi and Gudja United.
