17.11.16 Women: Swieqi Unbeaten run continues
The woman’s team kicked off the second round of fixtures against Hamrun on Wednesday, with the girls successfully keeping their unbeaten run on track. The game was a rather one sided one with Swieqi scoring 4 goals in each half to end the game with the same score line as the first encounter.
The woman wasted no time to get the game underway and were on the score sheet within a matter of seconds. A perfect true ball by Kate Galea found Becky Naudi making a run behind the defense, who controlled the ball and calmly slotted it at the back of the net in the opening 10 seconds of the game. At the restart, the girls went right back for more, and some pressure from Krista Montfort won the ball back immediately, and set up Emma Moore for the second goal putting the women 2-0 up in the first minute of the game. Emma Moore grabbed a second goal moments later to make it 3-0. Kate Galea also got her name on the score sheet after her well taken free kick was too much for the Hamrun goaler to handle. The girls kept up the momentum in the second half and added another four goals. Yolande Attard bagged herself a personal hat-rick, and Emma Moore also grabbed herself a third after some good build up by the team.
This win taken Swieqi 5 points clear at the top of the table, with Kirkop B next in sight on the 29th November 2016 at Zebbug Ground.
