24.08.16 Why join the Swieqi United Academy?
We CARE: It is easy for any club to say “We Care”, so what makes us any different? Why do we feel as though we care more than we should?
Well the reason is simple. At Swieqi United, we respect each and every player. We treat them as though they are family, taking into consideration players backgrounds, weaknesses and of course, strengths, as we believe that every single player has something to offer to the club. We make sure that our squads remain UNITED, and that everyone feels part of the squad.
Our extra effort in this department can also be seen whenever we have a game against another club, as more often than not, you will see a handful coaches from other squads supporting the boys and keeping an eye on their development.
We DEVELOP: Our main aim for each and every single squad, is not only to win games, but to develop players. At Swieqi United, every single coach works hard both on and off the pitch in order to help the players reach their maximum potential.
One of the many ways that we maximise player development is by allocating at least 3 coaches (head coach, assistant coach and trainee coach) to each and every single squad. This structure allows us to keep a closer eye on player improvement, allows us to work closer with the players, and gives them an extra push where needed.
Our interest in developing players can clearly be seen by looking at the amount of U19 players who have played with the Senior squad last season, with 12 players getting their first taste of Senior football.
We are FAMILY: With such dedicated and caring coaches coupled with passionate players who treat each other like brothers, it is almost impossible not to say that we are all one big family here at Swieqi United.
Since different squads all integrate with each other at numerous club events, players get to know each other exceptionally well. Through events such as BBQs, beach days, trips to Gozo and live-ins which are organised for multiple squads, the players have the opportunity to get to know other players of different ages who they would not normally communicate with.
Through these events, we ensure that all our squads remain close, and more importantly, that we remain UNITED.
