06.01.16 Swieqi hit 5 past Xghajra Tornados
U-19's lined up for a match against Xghajra Tornados on Tuesday night at Zabbar ground. The orange piled pressure from the start and within four minutes went into the lead with an easy tap in from Nicky Schembri assisted by an on form Mark Martin. The latter finding the net himself a few minutes later from a finely hit first time volley leaving the Xghajra keeper helplessly rooted to the spot. The young owls kept showing great football and after a series of passes, Swieqi were awarded a penalty after a foul on Martin, converted by Benjamin Frendo making it 3-0.
At the start of the second half Swieqi quickly made it 4 with another clinical finish by Schembri, bagging his second goal for the night. Xghajra upped the tempo of the match and were trying to break down the Swieqi defence which remained calm under pressure. A header from Thomas Camilleri from a corner sealed the match by making 5. Xghajra finally managed to score a consolation goal from a dangerous counter-attack. Tristan Stivala made his debut in orange.
