Swieqi Futsal win thriller!

27.02.15 Swieqi Futsal win thriller!

Buoyed by their solid performance v Qormi in the last game, Swieqi entered into this game on a positive high and their aim was to secure the 3 points available.

Mosta on the other side were looking for 3 precious points to secure their Premier League status.

With only a couple of seconds of the first half, Andrew Sammut Alessi slotted the ball home to give Swieqi an early lead. This blow didn't upset Mosta. Instead Mosta surged into attack to find a quick equalizer however Swieqi were solid and organised at the back. Gabirel Buttigieg had a good chance mid-way through the first half to make it 2-0 for Swieqi, however he placed the ball inches wide. Mosta came back knocking for the equalizer and were close to not grabbing it on the 10th minute when two chances were well saved by Mark Debono guarding Swieqi's post.

On the 15th minute Velibor placed an amazing shot, only for Karl Balzan to sting his fingers and tip the ball out for a corner. From the corner Mosta surged into a quick break and were unlucky when they hit the post! Sammut Alessi was unlucky not to add a second goal to his name 4 minutes from the end of the first half when he missed a one-on-one with the Mosta custodian.

The half time whistle blew and Swieqi headed into the break with a slender 1-0 lead, knowing that Mosta were going to come out in the second half searching for that deserved equalizer.
Coach Zvezdan rallied his troops and gave them strict instructions to keep calm and just keep sticking to the game plan.

Swieqi quicjly settled their nerves when just like in the start of the first half, Fredrick made it 2-0. However Mosta managed to pull a goal back immeditately after and the game was balanced once more. In the 4th minute both Andrew Deceasare and Fredrick missed chances to add a third goal for Swieqi and Mosta had a great shot tipped over the bar. Mosta were unlucky not to equalize once more when with 6 minutes gone they hit the post for the second time! Mosta could not believe their luck when they hit the post for a 3rd time one minute later!

This proved costly for the blues because Sammut Alessi added his second, and Swieqi's third straight after. Mosta again went on the look for a goal and the alert Debono finger-tipped yet another chance over the cross bar. Timmy Gingell went close for Mosta however his shot went inches wide. Mosta grabbed a deserved second goal with 14 minutes gone by - 3-2 for Swieqi and with Mosta very much still in the game.

However Mosta seem to have switched off in the last 5 minutes and this proved costly to the team. Andrew Deceasare scored a wonder goal with 4 minutes remaining and putting Swieqi in a 4-1 lead. Soon after Sammut Alessi grabbed his personal hat trick and capped off a magnificiant evening for him putting Swieqi into a 5-1 lead. Mosta changed their tactics to a flying keeper however this backfired when Velibor grabbed Swieqi's 6th goal.

With one minute left to play, Tim Ellis provided captain Paul Hyzler a lovely pass and Hyzler cooly slotted the ball home wrapping up all 3 points for Swieqi.
